We want a place that is nice, right on the beach and reasonably priced. We have been to Myrtle Beach and Virginia Beach, plus Disney World. We want to go someplace different.

Outer banks of North Carolina. Beautiful $ rich in pirate history. Not sure how expensive it is, probably cheaper that Myrtle beach during summer months.

How about the Outer Banks of NC. North Carolina is home of the “Crystal Coast” Also, NC has Carolina Beach, Emerald Isle, Kure Beach, and Oak Island Beaches. North Carolina also has 7 lighthouses, with one (Cape Lookout) only able to visit by NC Ferry System. I highly recommend any number of beaches on the NC coastline.

Visit Duck, North Carolina. It’s a beautiful little town with great beaches.

Atlantic Beach North Carolina. Stay at “A Place at the Beach”. Its right on the Ocean. They have indoor and outdoor pool – outdoor has a water slide. Lots of history in the area. Ft Macon, BlackBeard etc… check it out :)

The Outer Banks of NC get all of the attention (and it’s very nice there), but the Wilmington, NC area is great!

There’s Wrightsville Beach (really nice, kinda upscale). Growing and on the rise is Carolina/Kure Beach. I’ve been going every summer my whole life (27 years), making the 7 hour trip from the DC area – and it’s worth every minute in that car! The beaches are nice, great restaurants, really cool aquarium, civil war fort (Ft. Fisher – a favorite of mine as a little boy), plus Downtown Wilmington is only 15 minutes away and has a great riverfront area. It’s kind of quaint, but it builds up more and more every year.

As for Maryland’s Ocean City – it’s a good time, but really crowded. Rehobeth Beach, DE is only about half and hour north and a lot more calm.

Got something to say?
