Is this insurance too cheap to be true?

Little Bo Peep asked:
I have done a travel insurance search on www.moneysupermarket.com and 3 of the results have come back at under £11 for single trip cover for a couple travelling to Turkey for 1 week (13th Aug to 22nd Aug). The companies are Primary Insurance, Club Direct and Columbus Direct. Has anyone had insurance from any of these companies and had good/bad experiences? I have had a look at the cover provided and it looks fairly standard.

I would probably pay about that much, check what you’re insured for first and how much the hospital cover is for.
It seems about right but check the policy. You need to make sure you are, at least, adequately covered for medical treatment.
Do you have a bank account if so check out if free travel insurance is included with this. Mine does Free travel with access to the departure lounge with free snacks/drinks and mobile phone insurance and AA all for free ( well you pay a slight fee on the account) but it’s well worth it. And YES they do pay out in case of cancellation. Just check it out!
Check the small print !! I bought some worldwide insurance for my family and came badly unstuck when our arranged trip to fiji was cancelled due to military activity. Its whats not in the detail that will cause the problem!! If its got what U want go for it!
I would: (NB the trip is 10 days not a week!)
a) watch out for the excess under the policy - it is probably quite high and will probably apply per section of policy per person.
b) Check to see if cover against terrorism is provided for medical expenses.
c) Look at inner policy limits and requirements to report incidents.
d) Make sure that pre-existing medical conditions (if you have any) are covered.
e) Check that there is a 24-hour medical help line.
f) Look at a higher priced policy - It is easy to see what is in a travel policy it is far harder to see what isn’t in the policy but which other policies provide.
To give you an example - Our website quotes £11.05 per person for a week to Europe - under 50: £35 excess only, includes baggage, includes terrorism cover. It is up to you to decide if the reduced cover is worth the reduction in premium.
